Coppice Audio Launches Modular BG: A New Approach to Accessible High-End Audio
June 4, 2025This year at NWAS we have a fantastic prize draw that will take place at 4pm in DeVere Cranage courtyard opposite the Tempus Bar. Participants must collect their prizes at the premises directly from the sponsor at the time of the draw.
All monies from the Grand Prize Draw at NWAS will go to the excellent charity, Sheffield Hatters (Charity no. 1122247). The club was formed in 1961 and became the first Women’s Basketball team in England. Since then, the club has developed into one of the most successful women’s sports clubs in the UK. The first lady of English basketball, Trailblazer Betty Codona OBE was the founder member of the club and she retired from coaching in 2009 following a career which saw her coach over 500 National League games, a record for any English coach, winning 40 National titles. Sadly, Betty passed away in Mar 2022, but her legacy lives on and remains the driving force behind the club.
Sheffield Hatters is more than a club, it is an extended family which is now managed by daughters Loraine and Vanessa, and more recently, Betty’s grandchildren Tyler and Georgia have both joined the volunteer ranks. The club is steered by a dedicated group of volunteer Trustees (parents, players and coaches) who are involved in all major decisions on how the club is run.
We provide sporting opportunities for players of all ages, irrespective of ability or financial means and nurture their development both as a player and as a young person. Over the years, many girls have come through the club and we always offer a warm welcome to all potential players, supporters and enthusiasts.
In 2008, the club became a charity, which enabled it to evolve within the community, both in Sheffield and around the region. Senior players and club coaches have been able to regularly visit many Sheffield primary and secondary schools, which helps to inspire and recruit the future generation.
