Lucy Shaw to Play North West Audio Show 2025
June 4, 2025Coppice Audio has unveiled the Modular BG, the company’s first open-baffle loudspeaker system, marking a significant step forward in its product lineup. Designed to deliver immersive, full-range sound while offering increased flexibility and affordability, the Modular BG aims to make high-end performance more accessible, without compromising on musicality.
At the centre of the Modular BG system is an open-baffle midrange section, with a choice of Lowther’s CM45CP or PM65CP drivers. These well-regarded components are chosen for their immediacy, tonal purity, and nuanced performance, characteristics that open-baffle designs are known to enhance.

The Modular BG is built around a fully modular architecture. Users can start with a single bass module or expand to a dual-module configuration for greater low-frequency extension and improved scale. Each bass unit includes two interchangeable ports: one tuned to 30Hz for enhanced impact and rhythm, and another tuned to 27Hz for extended low-end reach.
In what the company describes as its most accessible design to date, the Modular BG combines plywood cabinetry with solid wood baffles, aiming to deliver a balance of affordability and build quality. While the new model is intended to serve as an entry point into Coppice Audio’s lineup, it retains the company’s emphasis on soundstage, craftsmanship, and emotional musical engagement.
“This speaker represents a big step forward for us,” a Coppice Audio spokesperson said. “Our first open-baffle design has been in development for years, and it captures everything we value: clarity, natural tone, and emotional engagement — now in a system that adapts to your space and evolves with your system.”
The Modular BG will make its public debut at the North West Audio Show on June 21–22, where attendees will have the first opportunity to hear the system in action.
The launch also coincides with the unveiling of Coppice Audio’s new website — now live at www.coppiceaudio.co.uk — where visitors can explore the Modular BG and learn more about the company’s approach to speaker design.
