UK SHOW PREMIERE FOR SVS ULTRA EVOLUTION SPEAKER RANGE

As the North’s very own high-end AV distributor, Karma-AV will help visitors to connect with systems handpicked to deliver audio experiences alive with natural detail and dynamics. This year, at The Aston Suite, we’ve chosen a premium 11.3.4 home theatre system comprising, for the first time anywhere in the UK, the new SVS Ultra Evolution speakers, supported by award-winning SVS SB-3000 and PB-4000 subs. 

The Ultra Evolution range delivers advancements in driver design, cabinet architecture, and component materials. Most noticeable are the acoustically centred, time-aligned drivers, mounted in a curved baffle so that sound from each driver arrives at the listener’s ear simultaneously, ensuring excellent phase coherence and imaging. For the three tower models, including the flagship ‘Pinnacle’ main L/R speakers at the show, midrange drivers and woofers are positioned above and below the tweeter to allow for seamless crossover blending to create a “point-source” effect. 

Also new for SVS is the diamond-coated aluminium dome tweeter developed using vapour deposition whereby a layer of diamond carbon is grown on the surface of the dome to improve rigidity. Meanwhile, the new woofer implementation in the three Ultra Evolution floor standing speakers is similar in design to that deployed by the SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer, whereby dual opposing active woofers at the top and bottom of each cabinet are arranged in a force-balanced array. By firing front and back in unison, the eight woofers in the speaker pair smooth in-room bass response while eliminating mechanical coloration within each cabinet to deliver a deep and controlled low frequency response at all drive levels.  

Midrange drivers and woofers across all models feature glass-fibre composite cones chosen for their superb stiffness-to-mass ratio and the ability to convey natural dynamics and tonal accuracy. Separate, acoustically tuned internal chambers for the midrange drivers enhance separation and eliminate the potential for cabinet resonances, while chamfered front baffles minimise edge diffraction for optimal off-axis frequency response. Crossovers feature premium-grade capacitors, inductors, resistors, on a heavy-trace printed circuit board.       

The system is driven by Primare’s celebrated SPA25 processor/amp (with 2-channel A35.2 in support), integrating nine amplifier channels with eleven-channel processing to enhance the latest Atmos/DTS X soundtracks with Dirac Live EQ, 4K HDR switching, eARC, and prodigious power of 90W/channel, all channels driven. System sound is optimised using high performance cables from Germany’s In-akustik range.
